At 9.00 am, students visited the University of Sheffield at the invitation of Miss Julie Fryer, personal assistant to Professor Neil Sims, Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. Initially, students first registered and got a visitor sticker. Later, students were brought to the area around the university. We were taken by Pete Nylon to the aerospace labs as well as flight simulator rooms.

We visited the diamond building, University of Sheffield which was opened September 28, 2015. This building is now the home to engineering undergraduates. It has an aluminium diamond-shaped facade exterior and inside the six-storey Diamond boasts , it is equipped with teaching facilities, a range of lecture theatres, seminar rooms, open-plan learning spaces, library and IT services, and space for informal study including  café.

As Pete escorted us to all the labs, he also shared with us that the diamond building has a computing area that offers 1000 study spaces available that is opened 24/7 for all students and staff across the University. There are also digital and print facilities, media editing booths, a recording studio and computer teaching laboratories. The building has about 19 laboratories with a chemical engineering pilot plant, a clean room, an aerospace simulation lab and a virtual reality suite. We can really feel the study vibes there as the facilities are almost complete for the students and there shall be no worries for all the students to study there overnight.
